Michelle’s Custom Made Silk Wedding Dress – Perth

Michelle and Lennon married at the Chapel at St George’s College before heading to the nearby Rowing Club for their reception with their family and friends. We created a custom made silk wedding dress for Michelle and a hand beaded lace headpiece to match her gown.

It was love at first sight when I saw the beautiful dresses that Sandra and Birgitta make on their website. I brought my hubby-to-be along with me to the Perth Wedding upmarket at UWA and as soon as we came across their beautiful stand he commented how beautiful the dresses on the rack were. That was when I knew that I wanted my wedding dress to be made by Elvi Design. I didn’t go dress shopping at the dress shops, I knew that nothing that I would look at would be anywhere near as amazing as the dresses I had seen at the Upmarket. I made my first booking that very same day.

From the initial consultation to my last visit to pick up my gown I always felt more like a friend than a customer. I was always greeted with a warm smile and friendly atmosphere, they make you feel so comfortable from the word go!

I loved the idea of a lace gown with a low decorative back but nothing too over the top. I also wanted a dress that would be beautiful but comfortable at the same time. The dress that Sandra and Birgitta created was all of this and more. They took all my ideas and combined with their experience and creativity they created the perfect gown for me. From the beautiful ornate lace on the top to the lace-on-skin effect on the back, and the beautiful flowing silk georgette that covered the soft satin underneath, it was and still is PERFECT!

To say I am happy with my gown is an understatement. I remember putting it on at my final fitting and getting teary as it was even more amazing than I could’ve imagined. Thank you Elvi Design, you really were a very important part of making our wedding day spectacular. I have so many happy memories in my dress and I only wish there were more occasions for me to wear it again.

How did your wedding dress make you feel?

My dress made me feel more beautiful than I ever have before. The soft satin was so comfortable and the flowing silk georgette over it gave me room to move and feel relaxed throughout the night. It looked stunning from the moment I put it on, to walking down the aisle, to taking photos with the photographer (even had to walk on some rocks), sitting down for the meals and of course the first dance. I couldn’t be happier. One of my guilty pleasures now after my wedding is putting my dress on again and just admiring how beautiful it is and how amazing it makes me feel. I have so many happy memories in my dress and I only wish there were more events where I could get to wear it again!

What was your favourite moment on your big day?

The one moment that stands out in my mind was walking down the isle in the beautiful church we got married in. We had a string trio playing Coldplay “Yellow” and I could see my best friend and hubby-to-be waiting for me at the alter. I just wanted to run up the aisle and give him a big kiss. I had to use all my restraint not to, but in that moment I couldn’t stop smiling, I was so happy!

Do you have any advice you’d like to pass on to other brides?

Take some time, just the two of you (no photographers, friends or family), on the day to sit down and just be. There is no real opportunity to stop during the day but at the reception try to find a quiet spot away from guests to chat to your new hubby. Remember you’ve just got married and the night is supposed to be about you, this time alone allows you two to enjoy the buzz of being newlyweds. It’s an amazing feeling!

Sam’s Blush Pink Tea Length Wedding Gown

Sam’s Blush Pink Tea Length Wedding Gown

Sam and Nigel travelled back to New Zealand to share a traditional Maori tupunu wedding with their loved ones. They got married at the Ratana Temple at Te Puke Marae, Raetihi in the Ruapehu District on the North Island of New Zealand. This particular area is where Nigel’s ancestors are from and is quite remote so they had to rely on their family and friends to help bring their special day together.

When we met with Sam, she described their wedding to us and was looking for a gown that felt special but would also suit the remote environment. She didn’t want the fuss of a train and she knew that it could be quite chilly and wet. We designed a soft pink tea length wedding gown with sleeves for her. It fit her like a glove! We finished the gown with handmade buttons and a very intricate beaded waistband.

Testimonial from our Elvi Bride //

“It was such a great experience, I enjoyed every fitting and loved how you could understand and design the perfect dress for me and our wedding. From the first appointment I knew I made the right decision to come meet you, it was the most enjoyable and easiest aspect of the whole wedding. Sandra and Birgitta you have an amazing ability to make a dress that compliments the individual and makes one feel confident.”
