Mel’s Short Wedding Dress Perth

Right from the beginning Mel knew she wanted a short wedding dress. Why, you might ask? Well, that’s simple, a short wedding dress provides you with comfort, the option to wear killer shoes (that people will actually see) and the movement to crank some serious dance moves on the d-floor.

We made a Mel’s short wedding dress from soft silk georgette and a bohemian style lace. The fitted bodice featured an illusion lace neckline with long lace sleeves. The knee length a-line skirt had an overlay of gathered silk georgette. Mel’s dress was just perfect for their relaxed City Farm wedding.

Why did you chose to get your gown made? What style of gown did you go for?

The idea of having a high quality and hand made gown that was unique to me was so appealing, I couldn’t resist. Especially when we are so lucky to have Sandra and Birgitta in Perth creating the most beautiful pieces for brides who want a custom gown. I went for a vintage / boho tea length gown with the most gorgeous lace sleeves and a silk georgette skirt. The whole process was amazing. I loved seeing the gown come together at every fitting. It was truly special and I couldn’t recommend Elvi Design highly enough.

What was the most important thing to you on your wedding day?

The most important thing to me was getting to share our special day with our family friends. There was so much love in the room. It gave me warm fuzzies looking around during dinner at everyone smiling, laughing and enjoying themselves.

Where did you get married and why?

Ali and I chose to get married at Perth City Farm. We didn’t even look at any other venues! Our wedding style was rustic/vintage and the barn at PCF was exactly what we were looking for. It is in a central location and the space was perfect for a family style / long table dinner. It also opened up onto the courtyard where we had our dance floor. Another draw card was that there was no time limit imposed by PCF on when the reception had to finish up. We had to specify an end time so security could lock up after the event, but that could be as late as we desired! It was so great to be able to keep the party and happy times going beyond 12am, instead of being ushered out when your family and friends are just getting started on the dance floor !
