Zoe recently wed her man, Sam at Sitella Winery in the Swan Vallery on a gorgeous Spring day.
We created a whimsical lace and soft tulle wedding gown to suit Zoe’s alternative style. Zoe knew she definitely didn’t want a traditional white gown, so we opted for a ‘latte’ coloured gown with attention to detail. The skirt was shorter at the front so you could see her sweet little shoes and featured layers of uneven, draped tulle to create something different. The bodice featured the most gorgeous floral lace detail.
Zoe & Sam’s wedding was captured by Ross Wallace Photography and the beautiful blooms were by Sandy at Manic Botanic.

THE DRESS //
I asked Sandra and Birgitta to make my wedding dress for me because I have quite an alternative style, and knew that I wouldn’t find anything that was ‘really me’ in any of the bridal shops.
STYLE //
I had a specific theme for my wedding, which was vintage/rustic. I saved heaps of money through recycling! We collected jars, cut glass vases, metal buckets, old wooden boxes and suitcases for months and months before! Because my theme was rustic, I chose ‘wild flowers’ for the arrangements that were in season. This saved heaps of money, as they didn’t have to be imported in.
Ah, I love nothing more than a bride that’s got her priorities right! It makes total sense to wear a tea length wedding gown if you’re having a country wedding.
Shannon had trawled through bridal shops around Perth unable to find anything that remotely suited her body or her bubbly personality. When she visited us we sketched up a pretty tea length wedding gown and had a play with different kinds of lace and silk fabrics. We ended up choosing a stunning cotton guipure lace with a rose pattern (which would match her flowers) and a fun, full skirt of silk dupion and silk organza.
Kurt and Shannon exchanged vows at the chapel in Walkaway (just out of Geraldton, 5 hours north of Perth), where Shannon’s parents had also got married. The ceremony was followed by a relaxed reception in the shed at their family farm.
“My dress made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. When we got engaged I was so worried about the drama of trying to find a dress that was going to look ok and be comfortable enough to wear the whole night. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that the dress Elvi Designs created for me would make me feel so special. All our friends and family said that the dress was just me and they could never see me in a long dress where I couldn’t dance the night away. Sandra and Birgitta took the time each visit to make sure I was completely in love with my dress, nothing was too big of a deal and were always able to fit me in when I was coming from Walkaway to visit. I cannot thank them enough for the way I felt on my special day.” – Shannon, September 2014

“My favourite moment on my wedding day other than marrying the man of my dreams was getting ready with my family. I had a somewhat different wedding as I had my brother and sister as my “bridesmaids” although my brother wouldn’t admit this. It was such a special time that we were able to share with one another and the laughs we shared before the ceremony will last a lifetime.”
“I wanted to be a very easy going and laid back sort of bride, which I certainly was, to the extent that 3 different people mentioned it in our speeches.Kurt and i are very happy go lucky people and i didn’t want the biggest day of our lives to be any different. The day before our wedding we were awaiting the arrival of our flowers, when they arrived we all rushed to the back of the car to look at the much anticipated “David Austin” roses only to find Black Lilies, which were certainly not going to match with my theme. Everyone had a mini meltdown but Kurt and I looked at one another and laughed our heads off. If that was going to be the only thing that went haywire on our day then we weren’t worried. Luckily for us, our flowers arrived by courier that afternoon. ”
We took our next 2015 collection ‘Bloom & Revel’ to Perth Town Hall as part of the Vintage Bride Fair. It was our first fair for the year and we had a great day meeting with bride-to-be’s and catching up with fellow vendors.
We had three Elvi brides – Hannah, Emily and Jaymie, slip into their wedding dress again and they were a huge hit with the visitors at the bridal fair. They each received so many lovely compliments and looked absolutely gorgeous thanks to Lisa from the Milla Makeup team. Their outfits were completed with fresh blooms by the clever girls at Rose & Bud.
Our beautiful stand was created with props from Curio Warehouse.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped out, our beautiful models and of course, those of you who visited us!
