I’m so excited to share the wedding of Kristin & Hamish with you. They put so much thought and effort into making their wedding day a reflection of their relationship and a big party for their family and friends. Kristin and Hamish did a number of things differently to a traditional wedding. They had a ‘first look’ where you see each other before you walk down the aisle, they actually walked down the aisle together (which I’ve never seen before) and they had both their ceremony and reception in a warehouse so they could cater with food trucks. How cool is that?
I still giggle when I remember asking Kristin how she found out about us, she simply typed ‘hipster lace wedding dress Perth’ into Google. I’d never thought of that search term before but it is probably quite accurate for what we do here at Elvi Design! We worked with Kristin to create a lace tea length wedding gown with sleeves for her festival inspired wedding. We used a beautiful ivory corded lace with a mushroom silk base, having a darker colour under the lace really makes the lace pattern stand out.

I felt free, not weighed down and constricted as I believe lots of girls in tight, strapless floor length gowns do!
I wanted to have fun and I wanted the guests to have fun. I also wanted the ceremony and reception to reflect who Hamish and I were and who we were as a couple and to tell a bit of our story to many of our friends and family who didn’t know the new spouse too well.
Ask vendor’s for recommendations. Generally, vendors with similar styles will know each other and then it helps to coordinate the overall ‘look’ if the vendors are coming from a similar starting place.
