FAQs

What does ‘made to measure’ mean?

The term ‘made to measure’, ‘bespoke’ or ‘custom made’ describes the traditional couture process of having a wedding gown made to fit your individual body measurements. We design your dream wedding dress, source the fabric, patternmake, cut and sew a gown to your exact measurements, incorporating all the requirements you need (style, colour, fabrics, trimmings, etc).

How long will a wedding gown take to produce?

The process of creating your custom made wedding dress will take approximately 6 months. At present, we are only takings bookings from August 2024 onwards, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you.

What is the price range for an Elvi wedding gown?

Our tea-length and full-length wedding gowns start from $4000 (price is dependent on lace and fabric selected). We only use exceptional quality fabrics such as silk and lace. We are more than happy to offer a complimentary design consultation to provide you with a quote on your wedding dress.

Our quote for your made to measure wedding dress is inclusive of all fabric, trims, labour and fittings (there are no alteration fees or hidden extras). We require a 40% deposit to confirm the order, the balance can be paid in instalments.

Do you have samples that I can try on?

Yes! We create new samples each year and we have approximately 15 designs you can view and try on to get an idea of the quality of our work and the designs that we can create. You can purchase a made to measure wedding dress based on one of our sample designs or we can sketch up a design to suit you. Our sample gowns are a size 10.

I have a design in mind, can you create it?

Yes! Bring your ideas with you to your design consultation and we will discuss what design features you like and how they can be brought to life. Sandra will sketch up a design to suit you and suggest suitable fabrics for the design.

When can I book a design consultation and how much will it cost?

We meet with brides in the afternoon mid-week or on Saturdays. We offer a complimentary (YES, IT’S FREE!) obligation free design consultation. Sandra will sit down with you to discuss what suits you and design your made to measure wedding gown. You will also have the opportunity to try on our sample gowns and have a play with different fabric options.

Where do you source your fabrics from?

We source our fabric and laces from all over the world. We work with a wide range of silks and laces from France, Italy and Japan.
