Davina began the search for a tea-length gown and quickly became underwhelmed by the offerings of ‘off-the-rack’ bridal stores. She googled ‘tea-length wedding dresses’ and of course, Elvi Design popped up! Davina wanted a gown that she could move around freely in and that wouldn’t get dirty in the country setting they had chosen. We created a sweet tea-length gown with a lace bodice, keyhole back and circle skirt. The gown was finished off with a vintage inspired jewel embellished belt and handmade buttons down the back.
Davina married Jim in the small country town Moora, just outside of Perth. They had a beautiful ceremony in their parents’ backyard before hosting a country ‘shindig’ at the local town hall. It was a rainy day in September, but lucky for them, the sun came out just as the ceremony begun. It looks like they had the most wonderful day in their beloved home town surrounded by friends and family.
Kind words from the beautiful Davina-
“Thank you Sandra and Birgitta! What a pair of marvellous ladies you are. I can’t thank you enough for the experience you gave me leading up to our wedding. I really loved going through the relaxed, professional and personal process of having a dress made just for me, it was very special seeing the dress come together and the work and skill that goes into it.
I started out as a rather resentful bride who wanted something different and combined with a bad first experience at a large bridal shop in the city I didn’t like the idea of spending a lot of money on an off the rack dress, especially when it wasn’t really what I had in mind. However when I found the Elvi Design website and received such a prompt response from Sandra via email I was quietly excited about meeting the Elvi Design ladies. Right from the start I had confidence and faith that Sandra and Birgitta could create just what I wanted. And they did. My dress was just what I wanted. Thank you both so much.”
My favourite photo is when Davina’s sister sees some mud on the wedding dress. Classic.
