When we met with Nikky she was keen to find a swing dancing wedding dress with a pop of her favourite colour. We worked together to design a tea length wedding dress with a lace bodice and an emerald green waistband. Her swing dancing wedding dress was finished with a green petticoat and all those gorgeous handmade buttons down the back. The end result was a very fun dress that Nikky felt comfortable in and ultimately, she felt like it represented her style and personality perfectly!
Nikky bucked a few bridal traditions by having a bride’s kick (a male friend as her bridesmaid) and by going without a traditional floral bouquet. I love it when couples do what they want on their wedding day as opposed to following traditions or trends, there is no right or wrong!
Nikky and Ashley married at Wesley Uniting Church in the city before heading to the Old Swan Brewery to dance the night away.
“I went to Elvi because I knew I couldn’t find the dress I imagined in any dress stores and I fell in love with the beautiful vintage inspired dresses in the gallery on their website. The ladies are so friendly and welcoming, and my dress exactly matched the picture in my head of what I had always imagined it would look like. We only had a few appointments but by the end we felt like friends. It was an amazing experience and I love the memories that I have when I see my dress!” – Nikky, June 2016

Steph found out about Elvi Design through word of mouth (always the best way in my opinion!) She knew from the moment she got engaged she wanted a custom made wedding gown from the girls at Elvi Design. We designed a beautiful full skirt with a layer of super soft silk chiffon that gently floated around her. Steph’s lace bodice featured an overlay of lace and all those beautiful buttons down the back. Needless to say, her custom made wedding gown suited her bubbly personality perfectly!
We also made a flower girl dress for her sweet little niece, it was inspired by Steph’s custom made wedding gown. We used the same lace for the bodice and then opted for a fun tulle skirt.
Steph and Joel’s ceremony was held at Lilac Hill in Guildford before they travelled to a private property in Bullsbrook for their open-air reception with beautiful lighting and food trucks.
The emotion in this wedding is just beautiful. I think you can feel the joy through these photos by Woodvine & Co

Beth and Kane travelled home to Brighton, Victoria to host their super fun wedding. The theme for their wedding was yellow (Beth’s favourite colour) and bicycles, as they both love mountain biking. Beth needed a wedding dress that allowed her to ride her vintage bike so selecting a polka dot tea length wedding gown was a no-brainer.
We designed a tea length wedding gown with a fine polka dot overlay. The beautiful silk dupion skirt meant that not only could Beth hop on her bike but she could also show off her yellow shoes! The polka dot overlay featured a vintage lace trim which came from Beth’s Mum’s wedding dress so that was a very special touch as Beth’s Mum walked her down the aisle.
Beth and Kane married at Hampton Uniting Church before heading to True South to celebrate with their friends and family.

Emma and Marc travelled to Koh Samui, Thailand to exchange vows on the beach in front of their family and friends. Emma was a low fuss bride and wanted to be barefoot on the beach so she wanted her dress to reflect the relaxed nature of their wedding. Emma had seen a previous Elvi bride in a beautiful yet simple silk beach wedding dress and was looking for a similar design.
When we met with Emma, we draped some fabric on her and helped her select a soft lace to create the perfect beach wedding dress. The gown was finished with lace detail around the bust, lace cap sleeves, a small train and silk buttons down the back. Emma had a few fittings before walking away with a completed wedding dress that was ready to board the plane. Each of our gowns comes with a bag that is appropriate for travel.
The setting for their wedding was spectacular with a large, floral arbour and beautiful scenery. Emma, Marc and their guests partied the night away at their candlelit beach reception. It looks truly magical!
“Our Wedding was absolutely amazing, the perfect setting, with all our favourite people and my stunning dress! I can’t thank Sandra and Birgitta enough for creating something that was so perfect and suited to what I wanted. I received many compliments on the day and lots after too! Sandra and Birgitta were friendly and extremely helpful in helping me to choose my design and materials and I couldn’t have been any happier with the outcome. I only wish I could do the day all over again so I get another chance to wear it!” Emma, June 2016
