Hayley and Joseph exchanged vows on the steps of Eliza House in Kings Park, it was followed by an elegant reception at Frasers. Hayley wanted her gown to reflect the natural beauty of the environment they were getting married in so she went for a ‘relaxed bush boho’ look. Her gown was made from the softest tulle in bridal blush and had delicate pewter and ivory 3D embroidered flowers appliquéd onto the gown to create the ethereal look. The gown was finished with a tulle headpiece and the same ivory/pewter flowers.
Hayley worked with a wonderful team of vendors to create the most magical day for her family and friends.

We asked Hayley a few questions about wedding planning and the actual day… (All images by Anna Rose Studio)
In terms of attitude, I wanted to be a member of the celebration of Joseph and my new life together and commitment to each other. I didn’t want to be the centre of attention – I wanted to enjoy the day with my family and friends and ensure they had an excellent time.
In terms of look, I wanted to look like ‘me’. I therefore wanted an unpolished and slightly boho look while still maintaining that traditional bride look. I also wanted to feel timeless so that I didn’t look back on my wedding in 20 years and cringe! Elvi Design helped me achieve the look I was after and I absolutely loved my dress.
Enjoying the celebration with my guests and spending time with my family who I don’t see as often as I like. I wanted everyone to have fun and truly get into the celebration of Joseph and my happiness together.
Reaching Joseph after the long walk down the aisle and remembering that all the nerves were worth it.
Sandra and Birgitta from Elvi Design were excellent (of course). They were professional as well as caring and understanding about the pressure of getting your dress right. It was also refreshing to work with someone down to earth, especially when weddings are such ‘big business’ these days. It was nice to be treated like a person, not a number.
Jen Regan from Anna Rose Studio was the perfect photographer for Joseph and I – two camera shy people. Jen also focuses on capturing those special, unscripted moments that are really what a wedding day is all about..
Milly from Poppy’s Flowers was amazing and incredibly intuitive about the style I was after. She was very relaxed and felt in control which is a feeling all brides need!
Finally, our videographers Wedding Video Masters were incredibly committed and provided us with an excellent summary of our big day.
We discovered Mount Eliza House in Kings Park through Joseph’s work connections. It made perfect sense for our ceremony location as our reception was also in Kings Park and it fitted perfectly with our ‘bush boho’ theme. We settled on the State Reception Centre for our reception venue given its views, the reputation of its catering and ability to fit our 200 guests comfortably.
I felt truly beautiful and comfortable in my dress. It ticked all the boxes and as soon as I put it on, I couldn’t believe how perfect it was. Elvi helped me achieve a design and look that was truly me and something that made my special day all the more special. I have and will continue to recommend Elvi Design to other brides. The attention to detail and quality in the finishing was amazing and I was relieved I found such a designer here in Perth.
Run sheets! Getting everything down on paper before the big day meant that on the day, I handed it over to my bridesmaids and could forget about everything. I had all the phone numbers and names for emergencies and timing for suppliers included so it was all in one place. While it seemed a bit over the top in the lead up, on the day, I felt everything was covered and if it wasn’t, I could quickly prepare a back up plan without having to scramble for contact details etc.
On the day, draw a line in the sand about the details and simply take it as it comes. In the end, you’re the only one who really notices any of those small mishaps and the thing guests will really notice is if you are too busy being a control freak and not having a good time! Then they wont have a good time!

Emily married Tim at their church in the Swan Valley on a hot Summer’s day last December. It was followed a beautiful, relaxed reception for their friends and family at Riverside on Woodbridge.
Emily opted for a relaxed full-length lace wedding gown with a scoop neckline and low back. The lace hemline on this wedding gown was just divine!!
Here are some of Emily’s thoughts and tips on being a bride…
I had many favourite moments, as you would on your wedding day! One of them would definitely have been putting on my veil that my grandmother made for me. I’ve always had a deep fascination and love for brides with beautiful veils, so that was really special. Another one would have to be walking down the aisle. It was one of the most scary, nerve racking things I’ve ever done but almost the most fun, joyous and emotional experiences I’ve had.
Let’s just say if I can do it, anyone can! I’m sure I was one of the most unorganised and last minute brides there’s ever been, but remaining calm and always keeping the day in perspective makes a huge difference! Plan your wedding together. My [then] fiancé, Tim, was involved in almost every decision (especially the big ones) and I loved having it that way! It was OUR wedding, not just mine. We didn’t always agree and sometimes I wanted to just go ahead and do my own thing – but it’s so special looking back and knowing that we did it together and he loved everything about it just as much as I did.
My wedding dress made me feel like the bride I’d always dreamed of being! I went in to my wedding unsure about almost everything except for my dress! I knew I didn’t want to scrimp and I knew I wanted it to be perfect, and it most definitely was. I wanted to be a relaxed, yet classic bride and my dress made all the difference!
