Casey’s Lace and Tulle Wedding Dress with Cap Sleeves

Casey and Luke planned their wedding for a beautiful Summer’s day at Sittella Winery in the Swan Valley. The couple opted for simple styling which really allowed the stunning venue to shine.

When we met with Casey she was well aware that she was getting married at the peak of Perth’s Summer and wanted a wedding gown that was as comfy and easy to wear as it was beautiful. Casey selected our ‘Tia’ silk wedding dress (which is as light as a feather as far as wedding dresses go!) and we made some alterations to suit her such as adding a lace cap sleeve and minimising the train so it was less fuss.

Now one of my favourite things about Casey and Luke’s wedding was their decision to donate money to the McGrath Foundation instead of traditional favours. I thought this was such a great idea, I hope more couples consider this idea in the future!

How did your wedding dress make you feel?

I just loved my dress. I went to Elvi Design, not really knowing what I wanted but had a few different ideas in mind. Sandra was a great help, by offering suggestions and alterations to one of her samples, to create a design I was happy with. I loved the idea of having something custom made, so I know no-one else will have my wedding dress. Having a February wedding, I wanted to make sure that it would also be light and comfortable, and the end result was definitely this. Adding the lace capped sleeves was the perfect finishing touch. I received so many beautiful comments about the dress, and I loved wearing it!

Do you have any special tips on how to plan a wedding?

– Don’t let others influence your day or let you stray from the style of wedding you want. Usually what is your first choice is always the best; trust your instinct!

– Ask suppliers for their recommendations when looking for other suppliers – they see a lot more throughout their work and can offer their experience. My florist, dress maker and cake maker had all worked together on many projects previously and it was good to hear they recommended each other.- Leave yourself plenty of time in the morning on your wedding day

– We had a 4pm reception so it meant that I had plenty of time in the morning with my bridesmaids, to have breakfast and relax for a few hoursbefore we started getting ready.

What style did you choose for your wedding and why?

We wanted something very simple and relaxed, in a casual atmosphere with not too many formalities. We chose Sittella Winery as we could hold both the ceremony and reception in the one venue, and liked the fact that our guests wouldn’t have to travel in between. It also meant we could have our photos in the same location, while our guests had drinks & canapes served on the lawn. We joined our guests here after the photos and watched the sun set over the winery, before sitting down for dinner. Our reception decor was very simple, with hessian & lace, and simple fresh flowers. We chose to donate to the McGrath Foundation as our bonbonniere, and these pink thank you cards gave a pop of colour. We went straight into a few speeches and cut the cake, so all formalities were done by 8pm and we could enjoy the rest of the night celebrating with our family and friends!Casey & Luke 0890 Casey & Luke 0906 Casey & Luke 0909 Casey & Luke 0983 Casey & Luke 1008 Casey & Luke 1023 Casey & Luke 1199 Casey & Luke 1310 Casey & Luke 1512 Casey & Luke 1535
