All I can say is WOW!! Talia’s dream two piece wedding dress turned into a reality over a series of fittings in the lead up to her wedding and the end result was breathtaking.
When we met with Talia, she was looking for a couture wedding dress to suit their relaxed, down south wedding. The solution was a two piece wedding dress. The intricate beaded lace jacket overlay was removed to reveal a party dress for the reception.
Talia and Scott wed at Meneghello Estate in Dunsborough. The photos by Teneil Kable are just exquisite.
It took me a long time to decide what to do about a wedding dress. I began by looking for an “off-the-rack” dress because I thought that the process would be easier – the instant gratification of knowing what your dress looks like on you was appealing and I was afraid that having one made would be too expensive. I spent months trying on different dresses getting more and more disheartened because none of them was THE one. I was looking for a dress that would function as both a beautiful, delicate ceremony dress and a party dress for the reception. In my mind I had pictured a wrap-around or tulip style beaded dress after seeing pictures from the Elie Saab runway shows. Accepting that I would only get the dress I wanted by having it made, I met with Sandra from Elvi Design and the rest is history!
We got married in Dunsborough at Meneghello Estate, a small privately run olive farm with a homestead and beautifully maintained gardens. Dunsborough was an obvious choice for us as it was the location of our first “weekend getaway” in the early stages of dating. Since then we have often returned for long-weekends of wine-tasting and exploring. We also wanted out wedding to have a “holiday” feel for our guests who had to travel from Perth and New Zealand and choosing a wedding venue around Dunsborough was integral to that.
Sit down together one evening with a bottle of wine and decide what aspects are the most important to the both of you when picturing your wedding day. For us it was easy – drinks, food and entertainment to ensure our guests had a great time! Having clear priorities makes it easier to choose what to spend money and time on as it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the details that go into a wedding.
Beth wore a made-to-measure beaded wedding gown to marry Aaron at the Wyndam Hotel in Busselton. When we met with Beth she was looking for a dress with beautiful detail that would suit their beachside wedding. We designed a beaded wedding gown with detailed lace sweetheart bodice in ivory and antique silver, the soft skirt was made from luxurious silk georgette with a beaded lace insert that formed a dramatic train. The handmade buttons finished the gown perfectly!
Beth and Aaron had photos in the surrounding area, by the beach, on the rocks and then amongst the tall south-west trees. It was a stunning backdrop for these two lovebirds!
We love working with Beth and her gorgeous family, we even had the chance to make a flower girl dress for Beth’s little sister. Too cute!!

We worked with Jen to create the perfect elopement wedding dress for the intimate wedding she had planned with her love, Adam. These two intended on doing the whole ‘let’s get married’ thing differently, they travelled to Hahndorf in South Australia with their closest family and even helped each other get ready on their special day (I think this might just be an first on the Elvi blog!). The Lane Vineyard provided the stunning backdrop for Jen & Adam’s magical Autumn wedding photos.
“When I first saw a tea length bridal gown by Elvi Design in Hello May magazine I knew that was a style that would suit me and my own style perfectly. Not being a very traditional bride, the thought of going and trying on wedding dresses in store did not appeal to me at all so I went straight to Elvi Design. The initial meeting with Sandra was so easy, she knew exactly what I wanted and even had the exact lace I was after. I loved each step along the way watching my dress come to life and I couldn’t have been any more in love with it. Sandra and Birgitta are an incredible team who know how to make brides feel at ease.”

“One of my favourite parts of our wedding day is the decision we made to spend our morning together getting ready. With no bridal party, we were able to spend our morning together helping each other get dressed, which was such a beautiful way to begin our day. We were able to share in each others excitement on what was our biggest day as a couple to date. With clearly no superstition about not seeing each other before the wedding, we also organised to have our photos taken before the ceremony, along the gorgeous main street of Hahndorf which was lined with incredible autumn trees. Our morning together had been so relaxed and and beautiful and by the time we reached the ceremony and our families we were both so calm and happy and ready to share the rest of the day celebrating with our guests.”
“After initially talking about eloping, as neither of us ever wanted a big wedding, we eventually decided to ‘elope with immediate family’ to one of our favourite places in the Adelaide Hills. We planned a lunch for 16 of our closest family members at a venue where we knew the food and wine was incredible. Adam and I knew from our first lunch date there that we wanted to get married at The Lane Vineyard. Knowing exactly where we wanted to get married took any stress out of trying to find a venue, but also lead to finding all our vendors quite easily as well. Organising a wedding from interstate was initially a little daunting but thankfully The Lane had recommended a few photographers and we are so grateful that we chose Mark Dohring from Bentinmarcs Photography. He is not only an incredible photographer and lovely guy, but ended up being our unofficial wedding planner, recommending our amazing florist, Estee Austin from Austin Bloom, as well as Make-up Artist Kristina Sarah Persichini and Hair Stylist Yovanka Loria. After initial discussions with everyone about our vision for the day, I had complete trust in everyone and couldn’t have been happier with how perfect every aspect of our day was.”
Cj knew from the very beginning that finding the perfect wedding dress wasn’t going to be an easy feat. She was looking for alternative wedding dress that would highlight her personality and suit the location of their ceremony, the beach. When we met with Cj, we made it easy, we talked about her ideas and played with some fabric. Before she knew it, she was staring at the sketch of her wedding dress.
We designed an alternative wedding dress with a short silk skirt to suit the beach (and potentially hot weather in February) with two layers of gathered silk georgette to add a relaxed, romantic element to the dress. For the bodice, we designed a fitted sweetheart silk bodice with draping and beaded lace. The dress had a very soft silver tone to it as Cj didn’t want a ‘white’ wedding dress. The design came to life over a series of fittings in the lead up to Cj’s wedding.
Cj and Grant wed in the south west at Meelup Beach before heading to Cowaramup Brewery for their reception. I just adore all their personal touches that showcase the two of them as a couple.
