This is such a sweet wedding, Sarah and Shane decided to travel to Melbourne to exchange vows.
They kept the wedding very simple but they knew they wanted to wear something nice and have their special day captured by a photographer. Sarah travelled from Geraldton for a few sneaky bridal fittings so that she could have the perfect little lace wedding dress.
It was super special to be handing over her gown knowing we were some of the very few that knew that they were getting married!
I had the chance to ask Sarah a couple of questions about their elopement….
For me the most important thing was intimacy. We are very private, no fuss people and we wanted our marriage to be a reflection of that which is why we opted to elope.
We walked to the Old Treasury Building (registration hall) from our hotel and had a few photos taken outside, went in and had a great little ceremony, then onto the Treasury gardens for more photos and then ducked into Mamasitas Restaurant (Best Mexican food ever!) for lunch.
The year before we went to Melbourne for a holiday and fell in love with the city. Once we set a date we googled the registry hall we saw how beautiful the architecture was and that they catered especially for weddings like ours so it was just perfect – and once we saw it (on the wedding day for the first time) it was more impressive then the photos on the internet and we couldn’t have been more pleased.
The moment I put on my dress it made everything feel so real, it was the most “traditional” part of our wedding (excluding the vows) so putting it on made everything come to life in the most positive way.
